The Gospel of Thomas, or The Gospel According to Thomas, is an apocryphal doent containing 114 sayings attributed to Jesus. The doent is nearly completely preserved in a Coptic papyrus mcript discovered in December 1945. The mcript was found with over fifty other doents, together known as the Nag Hammadi library, by a farmer in an earthenware jar buried near Nag Hammadi, Egypt. The text is in the form of a codex, bound in a method now called Coptic binding and was perhaps written between AD 60 to AD 140
