Did the Soviet union really collapse or the they fake the collapse.?
The Soviet Union collapsed back to the core state of Russia. Not only did the Soviet Union lose the Warsaw Pact nations, such as Poland and East Germany, but it lost parts of the Soviet Union that had been annexed into the nation, such as the Ukraine, Latvia, Georgia and Lithuania. It would be similar to the collapse of the British Empire in that England lost its possessions, but still remained independent. There is a desire on the part of some Russians to regain the empire. This desire is behind Russian interference in Georgia and the Ukraine. But, for the near future, it is unlikely that Russia will be able to expand its borders either through diplomacy or war.
